Upcoming Course Name Change: General Safety Watch/Attendant
December 19, 2025/By: Bluewater Association for Safety, Environment, and Sustainability
BASES is advising Training Managers and Learners of an upcoming update to one of our training courses. Effective January 1, 2026, the course currently titled “General Safety Watch/Attendant” will be renamed “Safety Watch.”
Why the change?
Feedback from members and learners indicated that the shared use of the term “Attendant”– also used in the Confined Space Entry & Attendant course – has led to confusion around roles and qualifications. Renaming the course to Safety Watch will help clearly distinguish between the two certifications.
What does this mean?
This update is a name change only. There are no changes to course content, learning outcomes, or training requirements.
For Training Managers
- The new course name will appear in SiteReady beginning January 1, 2026.
- Please update any internal training matrices, job requirements, or references that use the former course name.
For Learners
- Certifications issued after January 1, 2026 will display the new course name.
- Existing certifications will remain valid until their normal expiry date and will continue to display the previous name.
If you have any questions about how this update may affect training bookings or certification records, please contact the BASES office at 519-383-1222 or [email protected].
