Incident Details: NOVA Chemicals’ Corunna and Moore facilities are beginning start-up activities tomorrow which will result in elevated flaring and noise for 24 – 48 hours; over the next 7 days, intermittent flaring and increased noise is possible. Our focus is safe and reliable operations at all times, and one of our planning priorities is to minimize potential impacts to our near-neighbours and community. Flares are important safety devices that safely burn excess hydrocarbon gases that cannot be recovered or recycled. Our flare systems must meet strict environmental controls as well as NOVA Chemicals' process safety and Responsible Care standards. When you see flaring, please be assured that flares play a key role in keeping our facilities running safely.
